MoshUp is a mobile graphic and design application developed by a development studio called PyteByte—which is known to release lots of cool, interesting, and creative visual apps such as Bluristic and Fluxu. In this photography application, you will be able to do a live record of datamoshing. For those who are not familiar with what datamoshing is, it is a graphic art style that is becoming a trend nowadays. This technique damages a video clip in order to create a glitch effect within frames.

How is it done

To start filming, you will hold down the capture button at the bottom middle of the screen and for effective variation, you must film a different video next. Your first capture will merge with the motion of the second one you recorded. The app offers two different preview modes in order to perfectly align the second clip that you captured—Contrast and Blend.

Keep in mind to never overly shake your phone while moving, as it can cause the pixels from the first recording to disappear so fast—you’ll end up getting cleaner results contrary to what you hoped to create. It would also be better if you could film in well-lit environments in order to prevent noise image so that the high quality of the final video will remain. Structures will also help your video to be cooler and more creative.

On top of that, you can repeat the frames you have filmed either randomly or in order by simply dragging up the record button while recording or holding the screen after capturing. You can then save your output as a video or image depending on what you need or like.
